Our fight against homophobia and bullying in Europe!

The Party of European Socialists (PES) has been a leading force in tackling homophobia across the whole of Europe. The PES promotes Human Rights for all EU citizens and residents, regardless of sexual orientation. In 2007 the European Parliament resolved to tackle homophobia, thanks to the commitment of the Socialist MEPs. The majority of the Right Wing European Popular Party voted against the resolution.

Socialists support European legislation providing equal protection against all discrimination!

Proposal 26 of the PES Manifesto: “We are committed to ensuring that EU legislation respects citizens’ rights as enshrined in the European Convention on Human Rights and in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. We will strengthen anti-discrimination legislation to ensure equal treatment on grounds of gender, race, disability, age, sexual orientation and religion or belief.”

Socialists fight for recognition of all legally registered couples and families, everywhere in Europe!

Proposal 27 of the PES Manifesto: “We propose to ensure equal treatment for all EU citizens, without discrimination, when they move around the Union by moving towards recognition in all EU countries of marriages, partnerships and parental rights legally recognised in one of the Member States.”

Socialists, championing gender equality in Europe!

LGBT activists and gender equality activists share the same fights for equality and diversity. Rainbow Rose collaborates closely with the PES Women Lobby. Proposal 36 of the PES Manifesto: “We propose to create a European Women’s Rights Charter, to improve women’s rights and opportunities and to promote mechanisms to achieve gender equality in all aspects of social, economic and political life.”
